What To Blog About

Well I had a good idea of what to blog about. That changed when I realized I never brought an I pod cord and then we left the classroom. The class was kicked out because the people were here to put in new light bulbs. So new light bulbs mean better light, at least we will see better. So I had a great idea to blog about how calving is going so far but it will have to wait for another day. 4-H regional speaking is getting close, it is on Saturday. We will go to Moose Jaw, do our speeches and maybe if things are going good we will get to see some mens world cup curling. Well thats all I have to say for now. So GOOD BYE everybody and have a very nice day.

The Calving

Well this year calving will be quite different from last year. It all started last year when calving was cold and stormy. This put dad over the edge and in the fall we sold the entire cow calf operation, all 300 cows and we only kept 15 breeding cows. All we had left on the farm was these cows and, 150 calves to feed and grass in the summer. So now the cows are getting close to calving and the calving barn is all ready. This year all 10 cows that will calve fit in the barn nicely. So if it is storming we open the gate and every single cow walks inside. This of course is better than choosing what animals you think will calve and not having them calve at all. So like I said calving will be different.

4-H Speeches

My 4-H club, the Bea Bank 4-H Beef club, had our club speeches on Fri, March 4. I won the Junior level of Speaking, and I moved on to District 7 speeches on March 7 in Flaxcombe, Sk. There were 4 speakers in each category except for seniors. After our Judges did their judging, we found out the results. They started with Clover buds and then on to the Juniors. Of course the winner was me. So know I have to move on to Moose Jaw for regionals. I will know give you a copy of my speech.
Here you go-
